Is AC4 a good
laminate rating?
Yes—AC4 offers a strong level of wear resistance for a busy home. It is a step above AC3, commonly associated with heavy residential traffic. Bel Air’s 7 Kingdoms specification sheet confirms AC4 for this collection.
AC means Abrasion Class: how well the surface resists wearing through in a standardized test. AC4 is commonly associated with general commercial traffic, giving it useful wear resistance for everyday home use. It does not make the floor scratchproof or approve every commercial installation.
AC rating
A tested abrasion-resistance classification. A higher AC number indicates greater resistance to the wear test.
Wear layer in mils
A measurement of the protective layer’s thickness. One mil is one-thousandth of an inch. It is different from the plank’s overall thickness in millimeters.
AC4 does not convert to a particular LVP wear-layer thickness. Compare each floor’s specifications and intended use.
The ratings at a glance
These common traffic descriptions help put the abrasion scale in context. A floor’s complete use classification, installation conditions and warranty still determine where it can be installed.
The scale also includes AC6, a higher abrasion class. Higher does not automatically mean a better fit for your room: water exposure, comfort, appearance and proper installation matter too.
For a living room, hallway or home office, AC4 is a reassuring wear specification. Use entry mats and furniture protection, and clean up spills promptly to care for the floor.

The specifications, explained.
- Approximately 12 mm thick
- The overall plank thickness affects floor height and transitions to adjoining rooms. It is separate from the AC wear rating. Confirm the exact carton specification when planning clearances.
- 9.29″ wide · approximately 48″ long
- Wide, fixed-length planks give the wood pattern a broad canvas. Plan the layout around the room’s dimensions and the manufacturer’s joint requirements.
- Embossed in Register (EIR)
- The textured surface follows the printed wood-grain pattern, bringing the appearance and the texture into alignment.
- Semi-matte finish · painted V-groove
- The finish controls the surface sheen. The shaped, painted edges help define the outline of each plank.
- Unilin click · floating installation
- Planks lock together as a floating floor. Subfloor preparation, approved underlayment and expansion space still matter; the locking system does not replace those requirements.
- HDF core · waxed edges
- The collection uses a high-density fiberboard core and moisture-protection features at the edges. Follow the product’s moisture and installation conditions.
- 21.61 sq. ft. per box
- This is coverage before cutting waste. Bring room measurements so we can help work out whole-box quantities and the extra material your layout needs.
- 48 boxes per pallet
- A full pallet represents 1,037.28 square feet before cutting waste. Available quantities are shown by color; a pallet specification is not a promise of current stock.

Coordinate the color across connected rooms. Discuss the underlayment and use suitable furniture protection and a chair mat where needed.
Rentals & light commercial projects
Confirm the specific use, maintenance routine, warranty terms and quantity before choosing a floor. AC4 alone is not approval for every commercial setting.
Kitchens & moisture-prone areas
Check room-specific installation and warranty conditions first. A water-protection claim does not mean the floor can be left wet or installed over an unresolved moisture problem.

Is AC4 laminate good for a busy home?
AC4 provides a useful level of surface abrasion resistance for everyday home use. It measures resistance to wear in a test, not scratchproof performance. Choose with the room, moisture conditions, care needs and manufacturer’s warranty in mind.
Is AC4 the same as an LVP wear layer?
No. AC is an abrasion-test classification; an LVP wear layer is measured by thickness in mils. There is no direct conversion. Compare the complete flooring specifications and a sample rather than treating the two numbers as equivalent.
Can I use this laminate in a kitchen or bathroom?
Check the current 7 Kingdoms installation and warranty conditions for the room before purchasing. Everyday spill protection does not cover every source of water. Clean spills promptly and resolve subfloor moisture before installation.
How much laminate should I order?
Start with room measurements and the installer’s cutting allowance, then round up to whole boxes. This collection lists 21.61 square feet per box. Bring a sketch with doorways and closets so the layout and transitions can be considered.
